Favourite Movie Friday with Philippe Le Guay

French filmmaker Philippe Le Guay's new flick The Women On The 6th Floor is out in selected cinemas this week, so I spoke to him about his favourite flicks and lifelong passion for cinema:

“It changes on the day. Today I would say City Lights by Charlie Chaplin and tomorrow I would say Vertigo by (Alfred) Hitchcock. Certain films become more present to me every now and again at times, but that’s not to say the other one means less. Cinema is my life and my passion. I’m very lucky to be able to make films, which is sometimes very difficult and sometimes not so much.

This year I was very impressed by Animal Kingdom. I was struck by the talent and power of the director (David Michod). Otherwise I have I thought The Tree Of Life was great, which won Cannes, and I very much like the Spanish film The Skin I Live In.”
